Site Content
By registering on the site and verifying your email address you will have the ability to add new content, including events.
The options available to you will appear in the left menu under "Create Content". Classified ads can be created immediately after registering, but any other content requires that you verify your email address.
If you have just added it to the site, it may take up to an hour or so before the event lists are refreshed and your event will appear. Please check back later to see if your event is listed, and contact us if you're still having issues.
Our full artist list contains every band we've ever known to play in Kelowna, and even some that haven't. Check that you aren't already in there. If not, first register on the site and then Create a profile.
The artists listed on the front page are updated automatically from those that have recently added a profile to the site, have played a show recently, or will be playing a show in the future. The best way to show up is to let us know you'll be playing by adding an event listings for your band's upcoming shows.
Any updates may take up to an hour or so to appear, so be patient.
You can submit articles after you register an account and verify your email address.
Each article must be approved before it's added to the site, so make sure you select the 'Send to Review' option after you're finished your article so that we know about it. If you're not quite done you can always save it as a draft to finish later. Once you send it for review we'll either approve it right away or send you a message with anything that needs to be worked on.
Press Releases are boring, and no one reads them - they are made so that interesting articles can be written from their information. So don't send us a press release, write an interesting article.
Most of the content on the site was created from the original KelownaGigs system, and so has no author associated with it. If there is an existing profile for your band or venue, but you are unable to edit it, contact us to request access. We may ask for some verification that you are in fact a member of the band or associated with the venue, such as an email from an official address or a MySpace message from your band's profile.
When editing a profile there is a field where you can enter other site user's names to provide them access to edit the profile as well, so you don't have to message us for each member who should be given access (though we will, if you send us a list the first time).
Once you are able to edit the profile it will appear in the My Content listing, which is always accessible in the left menu to quickly access any content on the site that you have access to edit.
General
You can advertise on our site through Project Wonderful. Advertising is very cheap, and potentially free. The current price for a front page ad is less than 50 cents per month for 24x7 display, and you may not even have to pay a single cent!
Check out the Project Wonderful site for more information on how the 'infinite auction' process works.
We also display Google AdSense ads, but priority is given to those from Project Wonderful.
If you're interested in another form of advertisement or sponsorship, please contact us.
The man behind the scenes is Geoff. He didn't start the site, but he's kept it running for the past several years. He uses the 'royal we' a lot, but really it's just him doing everything.
The previous incarnation of the site began as a project in high school to learn programming, and the site you see now was part of his honours thesis at UBC-Okanagan. If you like what you see, you can contact him at GoldAppleSoftware.ca to get him to build something for you.
We do not set up or promote shows beyond posting information on the site.
First try contacting some of the local venues that are listed on the site. We currently are unaware of any promoters in Kelowna that are not affiliated with a venue. If you are a local promoter, please contact us and we would be glad to pass on any requests we receive to you.
If you have any suggestions on ways that we can help you find or host local events, please contact us or spend a few minutes to fill out our surveys.

If it takes longer than an hour or so to receive your confirmation email, first check your spam folder for a message.
If you are using a webmail account, such as GMail or Hotmail, make sure to log into the web interface to check your mail, as you may not be able to view any spam messages through a desktop email client.
If you still cannot find the message, request a new password. This will send you an updated link to verify your account. Again, make sure to check your spam folder.
If you are still unable to find the message, contact us and we will try to reset your password manually.
