Dave Lang

Being named after a piano playing pilot whose plane crashed won't force you to become a musician but it makes a pretty good story if you do. Dave Lang's a musician who writes great songs. Irreverent funny songs that make people laugh. Songs that make them happy and songs that make them mad sometimes. Songs that made musicians like Corb Lund, Geoff Berner and Neko Case learn them, play them and love them. Lang has performed them all around Canada from Halifax to Tuktoyuktuk to his adopted home in Victoria, BC.

Dave Lang has written music for film and television and received glowing reviews online and in print magazines such as The Georgia Straight and Spin.
"Dave Lang is an original throwback to a time when subtlety and good humour meant something. A literate mind, with a touch of Tom Lehrer attached to a subversive heart. This is a show to experience.”- Mitch Podolak (Artistic Director, Home Routes & co-founder Winnipeg Folk Fest)

NikTex

From Victoria BC; A collaborative effort between musician and vocalist Nikole Texidor and KarmetiK's Manjinder Benning, NikTex is an ethereal, poppy blend of jazz and folk tunes with a dash of electronic sounds and Indian instrumentation. Benning's expertise in electronic music production adds an explosive flavour to Texidor's songs and an eclectic mix of Indian and other worldly flavours with the tabla, synths and drums. (See their debut album thepowerofyang.com). Hailing from Montreal, Texidor was heavily influenced by her father - a prominent Jazz Percussionist who performed with Rahsaan Roland Kirk. The stories he told of being on the road and sharing the stage with Artists such as Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Led Zepplin, Frank Zappa and Jimi Hendrix were times where she wished she had a tape recorder.

Celeste Lovick

I was born on the west coast of Canada in 1977, and have always loved to sing. At age 16, I was given my first guitar and inspired by artists like Tracy Chapman and the Beatles, I began to write my own songs and to perform them down at the Inner Harbour in Victoria. I always knew I was meant to be a performer, but spent the next several years focusing that energy into acting for film and theater, rather than music. In 1999, an opportunity arose for me to study abroad in England. Nurtured by the vibrant acoustic music scene there, I decided to postpone my degree and to stay in the UK to follow my heart and my dream. Over the last 9 years in England, I have been blessed to have many fantastic playing experiences both on my own and with some very special musicians.

My Lovely Son

A hidden gem in the singer/songwriter scene by the name of Satnam Minhas, but known to most as My Lovely Son. A clandestine musician by nature, Minhas has developed a style of songwriting that attempts to wrench at the listeners heartstrings while painting a melodic picture with his warm, reposeful voice.

Kid On The Pavement

Kid on the Pavement is a UK folk musician that fuses delicate finger picked guitar under a blanket of enchanting lyrics and sometimes dark observations on life.

Aidan Knight

Until recently, Aidan Knight was known as a helpful backing musician, playing everything from pop-rock bass lines to violent, pounding hardcore drums. He has recorded and performed with Maurice, The Zolas, and Counting Heartbeats amongst others. All the while, he was writing songs of his own, recording in intensive three day bursts whenever he was able to raise enough money. Sleeping on the studio floor at Buena Vista Audio, Knight immersed himself in the project, waking up to play most of the instruments himself. Over the course of 2 years, producer Jonathan Anderson (In Medias Res, Kensington Prairie, Eisenhauer) and Knight carefully pieced together the songs, collaboratively. With the arrangements in place, he invited Toronto's The O' Darling to fill in the additional drums, guitars, girl harmonies, strings and horns.
