Windborn seeking Hand Percussionist

Check out windborn.ca. Listen to the music. Check out some of the live shots of what my former percussionist had going on. Basically a full kit of hand percussion. I have a lot of big gigs coming up this summer and usually play in the okanagan 2-4 times a month. Every member's heart has to be into it and be somewhat on the same page perspectively. Listen to the lyrics. You'll get what Windborn is about.

TnA

After spending many years clubbing, partying, and working in Edmonton’s hottest joints Tara made a smooth transition from the dance floor to the decks in late 2004. When she moved from Edmonton to sunny Okanagan in 2005 she brought with her a love of house and a drive to share her sound with everyone. She has appeared at many parties in both Alberta and BC including opening for the likes of Jitterbug and has graced the stages of Solaris, Hidden, Evolution and even won first place in the 2007 Kokanne Free Ride Competition. T'n'A's booty shaking house will have you on your knees begging for more.

Australian Indie Band 'The Firetree' Touring BC in November

Centred around the vocals of Dale Buchan and Josephine Cubis, The Firetree are an independent five-piece band from Byron Bay, Australia. Their energetic live shows, blending an indie folk sound with rock sensibilities, have ensured a loyal fan base on the east coast of Australia.

Following in the tradition of Angus & Julia Stone and Stars, the band has a strong focus on songwriting. Their catchy, upbeat tracks are brought to life with sublime harmonies and the contrast between two different yet complimentary vocalists.

Now The Firetree are releasing their highly anticipated debut EP, The Space Between, with free digital downloads available for fans on Facebook. Recorded at 301 Studio with acclaimed producer Murray Burns, the album showcases the unique sound and duality of the group.

Joe Satriani at The Kelown Community Theatre

A new show popped up from TicketMaster yesterday: Joe Satriani at the Kelowna Community Theatre. I'm sure those who listen to the radio may have already heard, since it is sponsored by Power104, but I had to do a double-take at seeing it.

It doesn't look like too many of the 'cheap' tickets (at $77 each) are available, so best get them soon if you don't want to pay for premium tickets ($190 each). Premium tickets do come with quite a few extras, and a Meet & Greet package is also available.

Go to the TicketMaster event.

Devon Bjarnason

Born in the Okanagan, music was always a form of expression for Devon Bjarnason. He began playing open mics in Red Deer, AB and continued to try and play live gigs whenever the chance came about. Formed the band devonandkevin after a chance meeting with Kevin Look. Began experimenting playing solo gigs and liked the ability to showcase some of the music that wasn't being played with the band. Although he still occasionally plays as a duo, Devon enjoys the freedom music gives to be able to play and share it with anyone who wants to listen. Devon's newest album 'The Tri Colour EP' is available now.

Floorbyrds

So what happens when you put seven of the most individually talented songwriters, performers & players in the valley together as 'The Floorbyrds'? Well simply put, much more than the sum of their parts. Consisting of Norm Strauss, Andrew Smith, Graham Ord, Kim McMechan, Corey Janz, Dean Clark & Scott Gamble, these guys have known and delighted in each others talents for a longtime but something very special happens when they take the stage together. Do not miss this one!

Madison Rivers

Madison Rivers started out as a project, a collaboration between Brooks Vickers, Travis Saunders, Craig Smith and Genevieve LeBlanc. It has been over a year now that they started recording "Projects", the first album.

There will be many more to come. Brooks Vickers and Craig Smith being members of a band named Blinded for years had accumulated many songs their "punk gone alternative" band had never produced or used. The 4 took these songs and gave them a female twist or point of view... A new sound was born. Genevieve LeBlanc, singer, aided the Blinded members in co-writing a few other songs, therefore adding diversity to the sounds of the 10 song CD to be released in the very near future. Travis Saunders, owner and operator of Skyraider Studios never shied away from adding his own creative twist to the trio with his talented musical knowhow. He enthusiastically embarked on the Madison Rivers journey letting nothing but the best sounds come out of the amps or mics.
